Fly With A Vape Pen To Cambodia: What You Need To Know Before You Go

Contents
Planning a trip to Cambodia with a vape pen? Cambodia bans e-cigarettes, so here is what the law says and why you should leave your vape at home.

Can You Fly With a Vape Pen To Cambodia?
Airport Regulations
Cambodia bans the import of e-cigarettes. According to the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids legal database, a 2014 government circular bans the sale, consumption and import of e-cigarettes and shisha.
Leave your vape at home. If you're only connecting through Cambodia, check with your airline and the embassy first.
In-Flight Use
You can never vape or charge a vape on a plane. On any flight, vapes belong in your carry-on bag, not checked luggage.
Local Laws
Because use is banned, you can't legally vape anywhere in Cambodia, including indoor public places, workplaces and public transport.
Drug laws are far stricter. The UK government's Cambodia travel advice describes a zero-tolerance policy, and possessing even small amounts can mean a long prison sentence. Never fly with cannabis or THC vape cartridges. Drug laws abroad can be far stricter than at home.

Are Vape Pens Illegal in Cambodia?
A Historical Perspective
Cambodia's ban dates to Circular No. 001/14, issued by the National Authority for Combating Drugs. It covers both e-cigarettes and shisha.
Current Laws Regarding Vape Pens
E-cigarettes are illegal to import, sell or use in Cambodia. We could not find official penalties for travelers caught with a vape, so we don't list any. Expect the device to be seized at minimum.
The Future Outlook for Vaping in Cambodia
We know of no plan to lift the ban. Check with a Cambodian embassy before you travel in case the rules change.

Tips for Bringing a Vape Pen on a Plane
Here are the key rules for flying with a vape.
Keep It In Your Carry-On
The TSA allows vapes in carry-on bags only, never in checked luggage. Each lithium-ion battery must be 100 watt-hours or less, and you must protect the device from turning on by accident.
Pack Batteries And Liquids Safely
Keep spare batteries in a case so the terminals can't touch metal or each other. Carry e-liquid in bottles of 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less, inside your liquids bag.
Don't Vape Or Charge On Board
The FAA says vapes must never be used or charged on the aircraft. Airlines may also limit how many devices you carry, so check your airline's rules.
Check Your Connections
Check the rules of any country where you change planes, too. A country that bans vapes may still seize one during a layover.
