Can You Fly With a Vape Pen To Slovakia?

Vaping in the Air

Yes, you can fly with a vape pen, as long as it travels in your carry-on bag or on your person.

What you can't do is use it. Vaping is banned on commercial flights, and the FAA calls it dangerous and a federal offense on US flights.

You also can't charge your vape on board. Some airports have smoking areas where vaping is allowed, but rules vary, so ask staff or follow the signs.

What You Can Bring Along

The TSA allows vapes in carry-on bags, with lithium ion batteries of 100 Wh or less. Spare batteries must also go in your carry-on, with the terminals covered.

Nicotine e-liquid is allowed in the cabin. Bottles must be 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less and go in your quart-sized liquids bag.

Never pack cannabis or THC products.

Allowed In Checked Luggage?

No. Vapes and spare lithium batteries are banned from checked luggage on US flights, because they are a fire risk in the cargo hold.

Airlines outside the US apply similar rules, but check with each airline on your route. If your carry-on is checked at the gate, take your vape and spare batteries out and keep them with you.

Are Vape Pens Illegal in Slovakia?

No. The World Health Organization's 2025 tobacco report lists Slovakia among the countries that regulate e-cigarettes rather than ban their sale.

As an EU member, Slovakia follows the EU Tobacco Products Directive. Shops can only sell nicotine e-liquid up to 20 mg/ml, in refill bottles of up to 10 ml. Tanks and cartridges can hold up to 2 ml.

We found no rule against bringing your own device for personal use. Bring only what you need, and check with the Slovak embassy if you are unsure.

Public Use Regulations

We could not confirm from an official source exactly where vaping is banned in Slovakia.

Treat vaping like smoking: don't vape indoors in public places or on public transport, and ask before you vape in hotels, restaurants or taxis.

Age Restrictions

- Keep Your Device Securely Stored: Keep your vape in a case, switched off or locked, so the button can't be pressed in your bag. Store spare batteries in a battery case.

- Know That You Can't Vape Onboard: There are no vaping areas on commercial flights. Wait until you are off the plane and in a place where vaping is allowed.
