How To Fly With A Vape Pen To Turkey: The Definitive Guide

Contents
Can you bring your vape pen to Turkey? Here are the flight rules, what we know about local vape laws, and tips for flying safely with a vape pen.

Can You Fly With a Vape Pen To Turkey?
Vaping in the Air
Airline rules allow vapes in carry-on bags, but that doesn't make them legal in Turkey. Read the local laws below before you pack one.
On any flight, you can't use a vape. Vaping is banned on commercial flights, and the FAA calls it dangerous and a federal offense on US flights.
You also can't charge your vape on board. Some airports have smoking areas where vaping is allowed, but rules vary, so ask staff or follow the signs.
What You Can Bring Along
The TSA allows vapes in carry-on bags, with lithium ion batteries of 100 Wh or less. Spare batteries must also go in your carry-on, with the terminals covered.
Nicotine e-liquid is allowed in the cabin. Bottles must be 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less and go in your quart-sized liquids bag.
Never pack cannabis or THC products.
Allowed In Checked Luggage?
No. Vapes and spare lithium batteries are banned from checked luggage on US flights, because they are a fire risk in the cargo hold.
Airlines outside the US apply similar rules, but check with each airline on your route. If your carry-on is checked at the gate, take your vape and spare batteries out and keep them with you.

Are Vape Pens Illegal in Turkey?
Vaporizing Devices and Laws
E-cigarettes are heavily restricted. The World Health Organization's 2025 tobacco report lists Türkiye (Turkey) among the countries that ban the sale of e-cigarettes.
A February 2020 presidential decree (No. 2149) bans importing e-cigarettes, their devices, parts and liquids, with or without nicotine. It lets the Ministry of Trade set separate rules for travelers.
We could not confirm an official personal allowance for travelers. Your vape could be confiscated at customs. Leave it at home, or check with the Turkish embassy and your airline before you travel.
Public Use Regulations
The UK government's Turkey travel advice says smoking is illegal on public transport and in all indoor workplaces and public places. Treat vaping the same way.
During Ramadan, avoid smoking or vaping in public in the daytime.
Age Restrictions
We could not confirm a vape-specific minimum age in Turkey from an official source.
Vapes are for adults only. In the US, federal law bans selling e-cigarettes to anyone under 21.

Tips for Bringing a Vape Pen on a Plane
If you fly with a vape pen to a country where vapes are legal, these tips help:
- Research TSA Regulations:
Check the TSA rules before you fly. Airlines can add their own limits, such as how many devices you can carry, so check those too.
Also check the rules for any country where you change planes.
- Keep Your Device Securely Stored: Keep your vape in a case, switched off or locked, so the button can't be pressed in your bag. Store spare batteries in a battery case.
- Know That You Can't Vape Onboard: There are no vaping areas on commercial flights. Wait until you are off the plane and in a place where vaping is allowed.
