Yes, you can fly to Guernsey with a vape pen, as long as it travels in your carry-on bag or on your person.

Bring a refillable vape. Since January 31, 2026, disposable vapes can't be brought into Guernsey.

What you can't do is use it. Vaping is banned on commercial flights, and the FAA calls it dangerous and a federal offense on US flights.

You also can't charge your vape on board. Some airports have smoking areas where vaping is allowed, but rules vary, so follow the signs.

What You Can Bring Along

The TSA allows vapes in carry-on bags only, with lithium ion batteries of 100 Wh or less. Spare batteries must also go in your carry-on, with the terminals covered.

Nicotine e-liquid is allowed in the cabin. Bottles must be 3.4 ounces (100 milliliters) or less and go in your quart-sized liquids bag.

Never pack cannabis, THC or CBD products. Many countries treat them as illegal drugs.

Allowed In Checked Luggage?

No. Vapes and spare lithium batteries are banned from checked luggage, because they are a fire risk in the cargo hold.

If your carry-on is checked at the gate, take your vape and spare batteries out and keep them with you.

Since January 31, 2026, importing and selling disposable vapes has been banned across the Bailiwick of Guernsey.

The States of Guernsey says this includes carrying them on your person through the ports. Disposal bins are provided at the ports so you can get rid of them before customs.

Refillable Vapes

Refillable, rechargeable vapes are still legal for adults.

Shops need a vaping products license, and they can't display or advertise vaping products. Vapes can't be sold to anyone under 18, a rule in force since June 1, 2025.

Age Restrictions

Vapes are for adults only. In the US, federal law bans selling e-cigarettes to anyone under 21.

With a bit of preparation, flying with a vape pen is simple. Here are some tips:

Carry-on only: pack the vape and any spare batteries in your carry-on. If your bag is gate-checked, take them out first.

Liquids: keep e-liquid bottles at 3.4 ounces (100 ml) or less, in your liquids bag. Pressure changes can make tanks leak, so carry them empty or in a sealed bag.
No vaping on board: don't use or charge your vape on the plane.
Check every stop: airlines can limit how many devices you carry, and the rules of any country where you change planes also apply.
Leave disposables at home: pack a refillable device and bottled e-liquid instead.
