Yes, but only in your carry-on bag. TSA rules for vaping devices allow electronic smoking devices in carry-on baggage only, never in checked bags.

You must take steps to stop the device from switching on by accident. Each lithium-ion battery must be rated at 100 watt-hours or less, which covers almost every vape battery.

The FAA says vapes must never be used or charged on the aircraft. It also notes that these packing rules match international (ICAO) rules, so they apply on flights into Niger too.

Airlines can set their own limits, such as a cap on how many devices you carry. Check with yours before you pack.

Traveling To Niger With A Vape Pen

The bigger issue for Niger is safety, not vaping. The US State Department rates Niger Level 4: Do Not Travel because of terrorism, kidnapping, crime, unrest and health risks.

If you must go, bring only the devices and e-liquid you need. Leave cannabis vape cartridges at home: carrying drugs across a border can lead to arrest even where they are legal at home.

Are Vape Pens Illegal in Niger?

Current Legislation

The Tobacco Control Laws database run by the Campaign for Tobacco-Free Kids lists no e-cigarette policies for Niger. We could not find a law that bans vape pens or sets rules for them.

That does not prove vaping is unrestricted. Rules can change, and customs officers have discretion. Check with Niger's embassy before you travel.

Niger's smoking law does ban smoking on all public transport, including taxis, buses and planes. The law is written around smoking, so it is unclear whether it covers vaping. To be safe, treat smoke-free areas as vape-free.

Health Risks

Vaping is not risk-free. Most e-liquids contain nicotine, which is addictive.

If you don't smoke, don't start vaping. Vapes may help some adult smokers quit when they switch completely, but they are not meant for non-smokers.

Alternatives To Vaping

If you want to cut back on nicotine before a long trip, nicotine replacement therapy such as patches and gum is an option. A doctor or pharmacist can help you choose the right product and dose.

Tips for Bringing a Vape Pen on a Plane

Plan Ahead Read your airline's rules on vapes and spare batteries before you pack. Some airlines limit the number of devices or batteries.

Pack Smartly Keep the vape and any spare batteries in your carry-on. If your bag gets gate-checked, take them out first.

Store spare batteries in a case so they can't touch keys or coins. Keep e-liquid bottles at 3.4 ounces (100 ml) or less, in your liquids bag.

Be Organized Switch the device off or lock it for the flight. Don't vape or charge it on the plane.

Research the local rules before you land, and follow any no-smoking signs once you arrive.
