Can You Fly With A Vape Pen To Peru? Here’s What You Need To Know

Contents
Can you fly with a vape pen to Peru? Here are the flight rules and Peru's vaping laws, so you can travel safely.

Can You Fly With a Vape Pen To Peru?
Yes. Airlines let you take a vape pen to Peru in your carry-on bag, and Peru regulates vaping rather than banning it.

Airline Regulations
Airlines allow vapes in your carry-on bag or on your person, never in checked luggage.
Spare lithium batteries must also stay in the cabin, with the terminals covered so they can't short-circuit.
You can't vape or charge your device on the plane. The FAA says these rules are the same on domestic and international flights.
At US airports, e-liquid bottles in your carry-on must be 3.4 ounces (100 ml) or less and fit in your quart-sized liquids bag.
Check the liquids rule at every airport on your route, including the one you fly home from.
Customs Laws
We couldn't find an official limit on how much vaping gear visitors may bring into Peru for personal use.
Bring only what you need, and check with Peru's embassy if you plan to carry a large supply of e-liquid.

Are Vape Pens Illegal in Peru?
Overview of Peruvian Law on Vape Pens
No. Vaping is legal for adults in Peru. In November 2024, Peru published Law No. 32159, which regulates tobacco, nicotine and their substitutes.
The Regulatory Framework Behind Vape Pens in Peru
Law No. 32159 bans smoking or vaping in health and education facilities, public offices, workplaces, enclosed public spaces and public transport.
The law defines an enclosed public space as one with a roof and at least two walls. It replaced Peru's earlier tobacco laws, Nos. 28705 and 29517.
So Can You Vape in Peru?
Yes, outdoors and in private spaces. Don't vape in restaurants, bars, offices, buses or any covered public space with two or more walls.

Tips for Bringing a Vape Pen on a Plane
Research TSA Regulations
If you're flying from the US, the TSA allows vapes in carry-on bags only. The TSA limits each lithium ion battery to 100 Wh, which covers ordinary vape batteries.
Check Airline Policies
Vaping is banned on board commercial flights, and you can't charge your vape on the plane either.
Some airlines limit how many vaping devices you can carry, so check your airline's website before you fly.
Pack Carefully & Securely
Switch the device off or lock it so it can't fire in your bag. The TSA requires steps to prevent accidental activation.
Keep spare batteries in a battery case or their retail packaging so the terminals can't touch keys, coins or each other.
If your carry-on is checked at the gate, take your vape and spare batteries out first.
