Clones sold as the "Hex Ohm 150W" copy its look and controls at a lower price, offering strong performance for the money. The catch is that clone quality and safety vary widely.

People often compare the clone to the authentic HexOhm to see whether it holds up in quality, safety and performance. That comparison helps you decide whether a clone makes sense for daily vaping.

The clone shares the original's basic design: a dual 18650 battery setup and an adjustable voltage dial. You turn the dial to set the output voltage rather than choosing a wattage.

On a variable voltage mod, power depends on both the voltage you set and your coil's resistance (power = voltage² ÷ resistance). Lower-resistance coils draw much more power and current at the same dial setting.

Battery Configuration and Protection

The HexOhm design uses two 18650 batteries in series. The master on/off switch cuts all power, which helps prevent accidental firing in a bag or pocket.

Use a matched pair of authentic, high-drain cells of the same brand, age and charge level. The FDA advises against mixing battery brands, charge levels, or old and new batteries.

Check wraps before every use, and replace damaged or wet batteries. The mod's spring-loaded contacts and a low voltage cutoff help protect the cells, but only if the clone's board actually includes them.

Charge the cells in an external charger and always use them together as a pair, so they stay balanced. Store loose batteries in a case away from keys and coins.

High-power mods are for experienced adult vapers. The CDC notes that e-cigarette aerosol is not harmless water vapor and usually contains addictive nicotine.
